All alloy shock absorbers are supplied with universal fittings to bolt onto the majority of models without major modification.
The length quoted is that between the middle of the two mounting holes when fully extended. Most cars can easily take a 5mm drop without issue but very few can take a longer shock absorber than fitted as standard.
