An essential part of the brewing industry, the Oast house or hop kilns as they are called in some parts of the country, are used to dry out freshly picked hops before they are sent to make the nation’s stalwart of beverages, beer!
This striking brick-built building consists of a cylindrical kiln topped with a white cowl adorned with a weathervane. Attached to the stowage area of the building is a hoist, positioned above the pair of doors used for manoeuvring the hops in and out of the building.
