ESC for R/C Car

The following speed controllers are usually all in stock in good quantities.

Quick Guide Standard Motors: If you have the standard SILVER can motor, as included in most kits, we suggest the Mtroniks Sport 20 (forward/reverse 20t limit) or TBLE02 (forward/break 23t lightly tuned motor limit) speed controls.  Note the Mtorniks ESCs have a reverse delay - i.e. the car must stop before you can reverse, the TBLE02 you can slam into reverse by moving the stick into the reverse (brake) segment, back to neutral and then back to reverse. Which is better is personal preference.

Quick Guide Upgraded Motors: It is best to allow some degree of extra capacity on an ESC to avoid it cutting out as your motor wears and/or in other high load situations. Therefore, if you have a 15x2 motor, you would find using an 11 or 12 turn ESC may be more long lived and less likely to cut out than using a 15 turn ESC which would be right on the limit. If you're buying a motor and an ESC, choose your motor first and your ESC second for this reason.

Warranty Upgrade: All Mtroniks ESCs are covered by a 2 year return-to-maker warranty - so keep your receipt and the packaging the ESC came in! The Tamiya, Absima and Etronix ESCs are covered by a 3 month warranty but this does not cover failures due to water ingress or overloading.

Tamiya Kit ESC: Tamiya kits come with a TBLE02. If you needed to replace the earlier TEU101BK, 104BK or 105BK you can just plug in a TBLE02. The only change on the TBLE02 is adjustable end points (for obscure radio handsets) plus support for LF batteries and ability to use 3 wire brushless motors as well as standard 2 wire brushed motors.
