What you get:
1 x Ready Built Tamiya RC Car as below, this comes complete with a Tamiya ESC unit.
1 x Mstyle Power Pack - this consists of a radio handset, receiver, steering servo, 2000mah running battery and a USB peak detect battery charger.
What you need to do:
Following the guide in the Tamiya manual, you install the steering servo and receiver into the car, and you're ready to go. If you've not done this before, it's going to take maybe 30 minutes. Our tip: connect everything up and switch it on before you fit the steering onto the servo - just to let it self centre.
The classic Tamiya Grasshopper joins the X-SA series, a childhood first car for many early R/C fans and still a highly popular model today.
Debuting in 1984, the RC Grasshopper - one of the first affordable RC kits that was significant in the boom of 2WD off road cars - is now available ready made. Utilizing the light weight design of the original model, this RC factory assembled kit does not care where it runs - either on road or off road.
The Grasshopper and Hornet are sibling cars - but are not quite the same under the skin.
Grasshopper Advantages: Ridged rear tyres wear more slowly than spiked tyres on the Hornet. Solid plastic body withstands most crashes with only scraches. Simple rear suspension pivots and has basic springs, with little to service or wear out. Has 380 size motor, giving lower top speed but longer run time.
Hornet Advantages: Spiked rear tyres grip better on grass. Lightweight lexan body has more detailing and separate wing but is thinner so more easily damaged. Rear suspension operates around a pivot with oil filled shock absorbers. Has 540 size motor, giving higher top speed but shorter run time.
About the X-SA series
Kits are a big part of what we do here at Tamiya, but we also understand that some people may not have the time or confidence for the assembly of an R/C model – that is why we have come up with the X-SA (Expert-Semi-Assembled) series of models. Each product features a fully-assembled and setup chassis with our TEU-105BK ESC (electronic speed control) included, plus a fully painted body with the marking stickers already applied. All you need to do is provide the R/C equipment and battery pack, install it, and you’re ready to drive.
- 1/10 scale finished R/C model. Length: 389mm, width: 223mm, height: 135mm.
- Features a realistic and durable styrene body, which comes with the classic Grasshopper (2005) stickers already applied.
- Simple, yet tough, 2WD chassis that can absorb plenty of rough terrain.
- The sealed gearbox contains a differential for smooth driving and cornering, enhanced by paddle tread rear and grooved front tires on three-piece assembly type wheels.
- Capable suspension uses independent swing axle front and rigid axle rear setups, cushioned by coil-sprung dampers.
- Comes with the TEU-105BK ESC.
Fitting the radio equipment requires you to assemble the steering motor (Servo) head unit, screw that to the servo and fit the servo in the car. The receiver is plugged in and stuck down. It may be necessary to do a little dismantling (no more than 3 screws) before fitting the steering servo.
